Silverstone nightmare, advice?
I live in FL, and on every route from my house I have to drive through construction areas to get to work, so I decided to get 3M film applied to protect me (hopefully) from the massive # of rock chips I get. However at 3500 miles I already had a few chips on the front bumper and the hood which I decided to repair prior to having the 3M film put on. I read everything I could find here on S2KI relating to chip repair and decided to go with the autovisuals pen in 2004 NH630M Silverstone Metallic. I picked an area inside the trunk (not clearcoated) to test colormatch on, looked good so I went ahead with filling the chips.
Wet, the paint was a really good match, but as it dried it got lighter and lighter and on my hood now it actually looks lighter than Sebring Silver, it actually looks just like finely splattered bird poop, ...super. I probably should have taken it all back off while it was still pliable, but I had to leave town and now the repair paint is fully cured (3 weeks), I had to postpone my appt. with the 3M guy, I am torn between trying to resand and repaint these crap spots myself or having the whole thing professionally redone (which I can't afford at the moment).
Anyone here had a similar problem?, any suggestions? Advice?
Thanks in advance, Mike

Not a member so I don't have the ability to post pics, sorry. The autovisuals Silverstone is significantly lighter, looks like a before and after pic of a teeth whitening system. really light and shiny.
Still unable to post a pic, sorry, thought it was because I wasn't a member, Am now thinking it's because I'm using Safari and OSX for mac.

i think that should fix your problem...
joining will surely fix my inablity to post pics, however, I doubt it will do anything for my horribly mismatched touch ups
Maybe I'll just take them back down and try some paint from the dealer for a better match. Just such a shame since this car is still better than showroom in every respect except for these spots. Never spent a night outdoors and all pinnacle products.

does. The brush thats comes with the paint sucks its too big. Get a small artist
brush at a hobby store ....(a very fine one) and its pretty easy to fix small chips
it may take 3 or 4 coats but it turns out pretty good. Just my 2 cents

ouch! razor blade?! no no no no no!!!
Clay... it is your friend and your paint's friend.
Go with the softest, most gentle means to remove problems from your paint. A razor blade certainly is not it. Even if you managed to not scratch the clear at all, one minor slip and you've cut too deep to fix without a respray.
Either clay or a chemical-based cleaner like Klasse AIO.
As far as touchup goes, I've got one of those pens that handa sells and it's close... a bit darker than my finish, actually. I think I'll pick up some Honda paint and try fixing some of my chips... maybe... so much effort...
