Smooth as a baby's bottom...
I'm on my second S2000, and since I was the second owner of each of them I never had the opportunity to experience the smooth glossy showroom floor finish for myself.
Last night, however, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
Several hours (and two aching elbows) later, result!
After:
Washing (Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Concentrate.... Not a big fan, but I need to finish the bottle!)
-I used true drying towels for the first time, Sonos super waffle micro fiber or something.... they were incredible!
Claying (Sonos ultra-fine detailing clay luibricated with Meguiar's Quik Detailer.... again, need to finish off the bottle!)
-This was my first time claying, on any car, and I was really impressed with the results, there was a noticeable difference in clarity and smoothness after the process, and to be honest, it wasn't too hard to do. The limited surface area of the S helps.
Polishing (Sonos Paint Prep Polish.... It was on super closeout recently, so I bought a bottle, very mild, worked well for me. I got their matching polishing pads, and I found them to work way better than the cheap cotton/foam crap from Target)
Waxing (Meguiar's Gold Class Paste Wax.... I will never ever use this again. It was horrible. I'm actually thinking about repolishing and rewaxing as soon as I decide on a wax to buy. I found that the wax was really hard to apply, and a lot harder to wipe off once it dried)
I've finally been able to experience that showroom gloss and smoothness for myself. I'm loving it, I was driving today and I couldn't helped from reaching over the side and rubbing the driver's side door just to feel how smooth it was! I also think I got way more stares than usual today, might be in my head though.
