Default Softening Leather

Hey Guys!

I had a question regarding the hardness of the leather in my 2007 S2000. The middle, perforated, inserts in the seat feel nice and soft, but the headrest and seat bolsters feel rather brittle. I've cleaned them with Griots interior cleaner and then dressed them in Meguiars leather conditioner, but they still seem hard. It's not that they're not comfortable - it's just that scuff marks are easily made. For instance, I just noticed another scuff mark in my passenger side seat.

Is there any way to get the leather to soften? I looked at the 08 S2000 and the leather seems much nicer on the seats - nice and soft.

Thanks!

Not that I can think of, just clean and condition. Just learn how to enter and exit the car properly! My passenger seat bolster has quite a lot of scuffs and is starting to look bad after only 1 year.

My side, flawless.

There's a difference between the perforated and non-perforated parts for a reason.

It's not all leather

How do you exit the car "properly"?

For me, left hand on door sill to support me and lift myself up and over side bolster. Turning in the seat or sliding over the bolster will just break it down. Getting in is the same story in reverse.

I'm a very light guy and since buying the car, there have been no additional scuff marks on the driver side. It's the passenger side that seems to scuff often.

I thought the inside bits of the bolsters were leather...this is what I have read on numerous threads regarding the issue.

I think if you look into it you will find all the support surfaces are leather, perforated and non (basically everthing you contact while sitting), shift knob and boot, wheel, door inserts, and center console elbow pad.
