Sonus SFX 1 - 3
I have medium swirls and was recommened to try the Sonus system. I noticed that Autopia is selling a bundle that contains SFX 1 and SFX 3, but not SFX 2. Is it okay to skip SFX 2 during the polishing process? Also, do I even need SFX 3 for my medium swirls?

for medium to heavy swirls and scratches, sonus would want you to use all 3...
sfx1 is really more for heavy swirls or scratches... based on what you write it sounds to me like you need sfx2 and 3-
2 is the real worker, like a fine cut compound. 3 is a light polish/ glaze swirl remover.
after any polish job you should finish up with the lowest level possible to restore the shine. which means to me that you gotta have the sfx3.
got pics?

no pics that actually show the swirls, but they're only visible in direct light. they can't be felt; the only reason I call them medium is because i've applied scratch-x and paint cleaner with my PC and they're still there.
i made a typo, I meant to ask if I need SFX-1 for these swirls, or is that overkill?

swirl removers are the mildest of all polishes... very hard to remove enough clear coat with a swirl remover to ever notice either by hand or with the pc- you can do it, but you gotta really work at it-
some glazes contain slight amount of polish, and some either have none or very little. a glaze does contain oils or fillers of some sort, oil or not.
my fav glaze is the 3m product- it has some of both... enough polish to take off the edges of the swirls (as we say, to rob the light of an edge to reflect off of) but not enough to remove all swirls. dont know enough about sonus's new product to know how it fits into the types of polishes, but it sounds like it is a glaze.

both the link and the description of the product on Autopia claim complete swirl removal after 2-3 passes. the guy in the link said it's based on SFX-2 but with fillers. my impression is that it reduces the swirls on the first pass, plus temporarily fills them in (so they're not visible). on the second pass it completely removes the swirls permanently. is this a valid conclusion?
at $25 a bottle it had better remove something.

I've used a very little bit of it and I'd say that it will remove swirls with the PC and an orange (light cut) or green/white (polishing) pad. It's definitely not a heavy cut product and does have some fillers, but it does a decent job.
