Default Steam cleaner?

Has anybody had any experience with steam cleaners? I heard they work well on household appliances, but do they work just as good on the car?

if it works .. i can reduce the number of swirls on the car

I don't understand the thought process of how steam could remove swirls, but . . . keep the steam cleaning to carpets only.
