Sticker gunk on dash
So, we no longer use inspection stickers in North Carolina. When my inspection was done for registration, they mechanic removed my inspection sticker. Apparently it dropped on the dash right below the drivers side corner of the windshield and left a sticky mess in two places.
My question is. . . Can I use goo-gone on the dash to remove the sticker residue? I imagine that it will probably leave a dull spot on the finish if it can be used. In light of this, is there a product or process that is recommended to renew the shine after removing the residue?
(If it matters, it's MY05 blue interior)
Thanks!

you should be able to use any mild product on the vinyl that you use on the paint for sticker removal... goo gone should work. i would test it in an "inconspicuous place" (like the lower part of the dash). read the label to make sure it doesnt say not to use it on vinyl.
once clean, you would treat the area like you would treat paint- as though you have removed the protection and now need to restore it (cause thats exactly what you have done at that point!)- so products that i would consider would be:
vinylex, 303, raggtopp (for vinyl)-
clean the entire dash- usually this means just use the product above to wipe it down - if its extra dirty, and all purpose cleaner would be o.k.- i usually dilute them a bit. in your case i would prob use the apc first on the entire dash... then soak your rag really well with the new product and rub it into the dash. if you leave it sitting and do a few coats you will get shine. if you rub it in and immediately remove it you will have less shine.
again, the trick is to test a lower area of the dash first- with the goo gone and then with the apc over that area. if you are happy, then go for it- if not, let us know the problem.

Well, you made me think about it, and I looked today. Same thing - when they removed the sticker, they left a small mess behind. I didn't even notice it before. I'll set to work on it with some Vinylex tomorrow and see if that clears it up.
So did you do like me, and have the car inspected three months early, just to get that stupid sticker off it?
