Default Switch to Zaino?

I'm a freak about the way my car looks, I wash every other weekend (used to be every week until I got Caifornia Duster). I spend a good 2 hours on a wash, 3 hours when I wax (once a month) and 4 hours when I go all out (wash, meguiar deep crystal three step w/ 2 coats of wax).

I'm thinking about switching to Zaino, I've seen the results and the cars look AMAZING. But it also seems to take forever and a day and cost a hell of a lot of money.

Is it really THAT good? I've got some swirl marks that meguiars won't get our, will Zaino Z5?

Also, do you need to do the entire process every time you wash, or can you just wash between the full Zaino?

Thanks for input

Try it and see

Wash between full Zaino, add another coat if you like, thats the beauty of it - once one full treatment done, each time you add it just deepens the shine

Your current routine times won't change. After the INITIAL time investment in Zaino, it takes as long/short as any other method to get an additional coat on. Zaino lasts a long time so you can just wash for months without having to re-apply it. I used to throw a coat on regulary in about 30 mins with ZFX.

Now about Z5, i think it helps with swirls but I'd do some kind of mechanical removal before you Zaino. It will only make the finished product more spectacular.

you have the answer above!
yup its worth it... and you dont have to do several coats the first time.
in fact, my first time (when i reapply) i do two coats- and if i have time, throw on a coat of p21s... if not, i just do the p21s next time it gets washed.
and after that, when i have time i throw on another coat of z2... and maybe p21s over it!

I just used Zaino for the first time this weekend and am happy with the shine. I can't comment on longevity yet, but it is very easy to use. It wipes on as easy as anything I have ever used, but wipes off EASIER than anything I have ever used, no contest. It took so little effort to wipe off I was astounded.

If you are working feverishly, it takes ten minutes to apply a coat to an S2000, half hour to dry, and five minutes to wipe off. I did two coats and it definately has a real nice wet look in the right light.

As long as you wash with only water, I have been told a couple coats of zaino will last several months. The bottles are small, but I used half a bottle for two coats, so I think you could get up to four out of one bottle.

I know the only way to remove swirls is machining, but I figure within a year I'm gonna have my car in the paint shop to get some chips and scratches fixed, so I'll have it done then.

In order to get started, what do I need?

I kno I need the Clay Bar,
Z7 wash,
Z5 swirl filler/polish
Z1? What's Z1 and Z2, is Z1 the primer for the polish
Z2? This is the polish rite? If I do z5, do I need z2?

ZX?

How can you not try Zaino? And the work is not much more of an effort than using Mothers or Miguires. I find Zaino to go on and come off much more easier than the other brands. Is this enuf to convince ya?

To start off grab
ZFX
Z5 for swirls
Z2 for shine
Clay bar
and some Z6 spray.

I say the car wash is optional. I use Turtle Wax carwash and it works fine....

Good Luck

Sounds like you're a candidate. Zaino seems to be lasting significantly longer than NXT because you can layer Zaino. Wish waxing only once a month you will be on the edge of "perfect shine" with NXT. Zaino should easily last a month looking perfect.

I just wrote some more on the two here:
http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...threadid=200915

Meguiar's NXT and Zaino are not the same kind of product. NXT takes 30 - 45 minutes total to get the shine of Zaino but has some residue when you buff out and cannot be layered. Zaino is very expensive, takes a day to apply for the first time, requires mixing of chemicals (easy, but still an extra step and annoyance) but also yields a stunning shine.

I've tried both on my car and people's jaws drop with both. Both make my low mileage MY03 look shinier, blacker, and more liquid-like than a new MY04 still on the lot. I was not hugely bothered by applying Zaino, but NXT is much easier and takes less steps for a shine that to me looks deeper and blacker but slightly less reflective. It's splitting hairs though. On a well prepped car Zaino, NXT, Nanowax, Klasse, and many others will look stunning.

For my dollar and time I'll take NXT at $15 (to $70 for Zaino) and 45 minutes of application time (to all day for the first time and an hour for additional coats).

Tugz, I think that picture is more than enough to sell me, you should'nt glue mirrors to you car!

I think I'll definately get into this before the summer, that way everyone can see themselves in my car as I'm cruizin around on hot summer nites!

Quick question, mayve I'm not understanding-
The first time, you apply basically a crapload of stuff.

If I wash every other week, do I need to zaino every other week? Say I have a few coats on- if I JUST want to wash can I do that with the Zaino (or say...Meguiars gold class) can I do that without reapplying the entire system?
