Teflon good or bad?
I work at a Honda dealership and I just bought my S2000 yesterday. I talked to the guy who sells those aftermarket rip-off stuff like rust protectant and carpet repellent. I was asking him about the teflon wax that he sells to customers and he told me good things about it, but I heard that Teflon is bad for paint. The guy gave me a big bottle of the stuff for free and I'm not sure if I should use it or not. I did a search, but most replies were " do not so it, you're getting ripped off", but this isn't a case of money right now. Opinions appreciated.
we have several long threads on this...
and yes, the conclusion is as you have already heard.
one important reason is that any car will eventually need to have swirls and small scratches removed from its finish. polishing is the step that does that and it also removes anything else on the car (such as those teflon products).
best to just properly maintain the car and if you want some extended protection use a good synthetic (zaino is an example).

Dealer snake oil. All that crap is just a pure profit generator.
What brand is on the label?

The brand is "The Protector" and it staes it is a Paint Shield Cleaner. I've seen these same brand products at many other dealerships. I know is a good way of making money for a dealership, but I have a new bottle at my house, it was completely free. From what I've read, I'll probably just sell this bottle to someone.
^ Why sell it? It shouldn't harm your paint at all. Give it a try and see if you like it. It's the cheapest thing you can buy right now (since it's free!) The DuPont stuff is likely just a fairly normal polymer sealent with a small amount of "Teflon"-brand molecules along with the other engineered synthetic polymers in there. Teflon or not, the ESP sealants are pretty slick and glossy as a general rule. Just don't expect the product to be layerable or last three years. Treat it like a normal wax (one month protection) and you should be fine.
And of course if you don't like it after using it it's worth nothing so sell or it or give it away. Post back here if you want lots of recommendations on products.
