Default Thoughts on Clear Bra?

I'm thinking about getting the front of my S2000 done w/the Clear Bra product. It already has the 3M equivalent (which is not as good, and is thinner but less expensive) on the lower hood.

I have not noticed much of a difference in how the paint/3M areas are to take care of, the coated area is a bit easier to clean and doesn't chip, scratch, etc.

W/the beating my front paint is taking this would really help, but I'd like to see if anyone here has experience (good or bad) with this (on any car, not just S2K's)

Not sure if this is true with all applications of 3m films, but I tried to take my wifes van in to get the chip guard done to it, it already had quit a bit of pitting on the hood.

The installer said he'd love to do it but he couldn't in the condition it was in. The pitting would cause the film to buckle underneath and bubble. So you might want to respray the hood or something along those lines before putting on a film.

First thing I did when I got the car was have it put on.

we have it on all our cars. merc c32amg, honda s2k, lexus rx300. we've had such great results with it we recommended it to our families and they all use it on their vehicles. and yes, you can hardly tell it's there unless you look for it. provided you have a good installer. i highly recommend it! it's saved my rx300 many times!

You sure you don't have the 3M product? That is what my 3M product looks like, but I have not noticed the same thing on true Clear Bra installations. Be good to know which you have.

There are several types of "clear" bra's. 3M seems to have the most common one, esp. dealer installed varieties. I have only seen one install of the 3M product that was good, the other 6+ have not been very good.

The "Clear Bra" brand's product is apx 3x thicker, and all the installs I have seen have been very good. It also lacks the "texture" that the 3M product has (ie, it's prefectly clear, as apposed to small waves in the 3M).

I have heard, but not seen, that these are not good on white cars due to a yellowing look. On all the other colors I've seen the 3M product was a bit dull and 'wavy", but not bad...the only good install I saw was nearly invisible, the rest were quite visible. The ClearBra product looks like a very thick coat of wax on the cars I've seen, and is completely invisible except for the line across the hood (and that is true of the 3M product as well, only more so).

You'd have to get an estimate for cost, it totally depends on how much you want done. (upper only, fenders, lower, head lights, side views, etc.)
