I know we are on the topic of tire dressing, but one new thing I have tried is the Zymol wheel cleaning and 'dressing' kit. The cleaner works well on the wheels and then a brake-duct repellent is applied and I have noticed an major improvement in the length that the wheels remain unaffected by brake dust.

Just some information and experience.

For a simple and low-cost method, just wipe on some Armor-All, looks great to me.

Meguiars High Gloss Endurance works extremely well. I have used the regular Meguiars Endurance and it does not seem to last very long.

The 303 Aerospace Protectant did not do the trick for me.

The trick is: clean your sidewalls extremely well prior to applying anything. Amazing Roll-Off is my recommendation for tire prep.

I vote for Meguiars. Was first suggested by a mobile detailing Dallas years ago and been using it until now.

I like the Zaino products.

I also use the Zaino glass polish on the windshield and apply the Zaino clearcoat polish to the windshield. It works almost like Rain-X but it does not have the film build up and it last about a year.

Interesting bump for a 12 year old thread.

Rest of the thread is good information even if it is presently in the wrong section (s2000 Talk) of the forum. I gotta believe this site has undergone many expansions and reorganizations over the last decade plus, so who knows if the Appearance section even existed back then. But it does now.

Edit: And now it's where people expect to find it.

I use some cheap foaming type of spray, it might be black magic or something like that, the important part is that I spray it into a tire foam applicator pad, so I can control how much goes on and it doesn't fling off. One can of the stuff feels like it might last me a lifetime given the way that I apply it, I use so little of the product on each application. The shaped foam applicator pads are excellent, it keeps the material off of the rim and you use less product. I put on just enough to darken the rubber colour.

I agree with the 303 Aerospace recommendation, that will actually protect the tire, it will wash away the first time it hits water but it is a real good protector.
