Default TMI! putting together a PC package

I spent half of yesterday (through midnight) and started this morning looking for the most suitable combo for me. Most of my research was done on s2ki wash/wax section along with the search function. I've narrowed down to a few combinations, but I'm not quite understanding how the polishes work (there are so many!).

A quick and easy history of my wash/wax technique consists of one bucket of soap water and a worn down sponge just going at it under a beautiful sunshine. Rinse with water after I'm done with half of my car and let it dry under sun. I know. So wrong.

So I've learned a ton and slapped myself in the face to save you the trouble from flaming. So here's what I plan to do to step into the washing/polishing to keep my car in the condition that it deserves.

PRIMARY GOAL
There are fine scratches, swirls and some hazy sections - far from being glossy like it should. You can only spot this under a certain angle.

EQUIPMENT AND PRODUCTS
There are two packages that I've been considering. Not fully understanding what each chemicals do, I'm not sure if I'll be needing all of this.

1. PC 7424XP Menzerna Kit
The package comes with most of what I think I need. All the necessary pads from coarse to fine, but I don't understand how these pads exactly work. Am I going to be using all 4 pads (orange, green, blue, black) each time that I'm PC'ing? My impression was that I would use orange if there are heavy swirls, then green, blue and polish with black. To maintain from here, I could do with PC'ing with blue pad and then finish wax with black pad. Am I pointed in the right direction here?

Also, power gloss, super finish and seal wax sound all the same to me. I read on Menzerna website and I'm still not sure. I just assumed some polishes are for lower grit and some for higher (finer) to eliminate the hairline scratches.

2. PC 7424XP basic Kit
Ultimate Menzerna Kit
So I'm splitting and spending more money for bigger and what I think is a 'better' combination. Along with the basic PC kit, my polishes change here.
Menzerna power gloss, super intensive polish, PO106FA (super finish), PO85RD (final finish). Again, gloss means polish and super finish is no different than final finish in my head. WTH?

Can someone clarify what the above combos are exactly for? I just need something to really get all the swirls out and maintain it. None of the cars in the family have been waxed so they'll all be treated as well.

Some additional washing products I'll be purchasing are 2 buckets with grit guards, and sheepskin washing mitt. I have plenty of clean micro fiber towels to dry the car. I'm still learning about what a 'clay bar' is and if I need it...

:sigh: so much to learn. I just need a little confirmation from the pros and a little push to pull the trigger on either of the combos. Help!!!
