Too much wax?
If you like to work with it that often you might consider a synthetic like Zaino or MTX. It will last longer and wont yellow like the typical wax can. Then you can use a product like Zaino Z-6 and wipe the car down as often as you like or apply more coats of polish.
Sounds like it's time to stip all the wax off with Dawn and possibly do a clay job just to get all impurities off. Then apply the polish of your choice.
Some of the experts will prolly offer more details of you need, but this is where I would start.
The Zaino website offers complete prep directions if that is what you are going with.

i would also do a swirl inspection-
if you need to do a swirl removal, then no need to dawn the car.
on a fairly new white car, not too likely that you will need to swirl remove yet.
if you dont need to remove swirls, i would dawn it and if you need to clay it do so. then i would use zaino and top it with the carnuba.
some good clay instructions:
