Default Tree sap on soft top, how to remove

Just curious what is the best way to get tree sap off of the oem soft top? I was told Woolite for dark colors and a shoe cleaning brush. Any other advice or hints?

Thanks in advance.

Try the Woolite, it may work or try a dedicated vinyl cleaner. If that doesn't work try a hand held steam cleaner to loosen the sap and then dab the softened sap up. Once it's off do add several coats of protectant to protect the top.

First, the obligatory disclaimer: try this in an inconspicuous spot first to test for damage. I've never seen it damage anything, but I've never used it on a vinyl convertible top so test first.

Mechanic's waterless hand cleaner, no pumice. It's thick enough to stay on the sap overnight; it rinses with water. It dissolves grease, tar, sap, wax, etc. Glop some on the sap; let it sit awhile; agitate with a brush like a toothbrush; glop on some more; let it sit. Repeat a few times. Wipe off, then rinse.

The rinse water may remove your wax/sealant but it shouldn't hurt anything.

I've had decent luck with Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover for sap spots. In my experience, it's not as effective on the soft top as on paint, but it does soften up the sap so you can pick it off easier. I can't recall it staining or anything, but just in case I'd put it only on the sap and avoid dripping on the top.

If the sap has sat for a while, it's almost a sure thing that it'll leave a permanent (but hopefully small) discoloration on the top.

Rubbing alcohol works for me. I used to park my car outside during the summer and left it expose to the elements. I notice there were a couple tree sap spots and I have been using rubbing alcohol to remove tree sap on the panels. Just make sure you wash the top with vinyl approve solution and retreat the convertible top, I normal use Aerospace 303 Protectant kit.

I use Stoner Tarminator to remove tree sap and tar on my paint. I'm sure it would also work for tree sap on the soft top; but I do not know whether it might stain the vinyl top or not. Call customer service at Stoner and ask them: 1-800-227-5538.

Another product to explore is Goo Gone.
