Hey guys:

I have what looks like some kind of brownish juice dried onto my bumper, and I can't get it off! I've tried elbow grease, Bug and Tar remover, and even scratching it off with a fingernail, and nothing is doing ANYTHING.

Anyone have any ideas as to what I can use to remove this menace?

If you have any 3M plastic polish for your rear window, try putting a glop of it on your finger and slowly, gently, work it into the CRAP. Don't swirl for more than 5 or 10 seconds at a time before stopping and wiping it off to see if the CRAP is still there. (The jist of what I'm saying is, the stuff is abrasive and you don't want to grind it in too much!).

This has gotten some stubborn sap stains out of my bud's new Expedition (I help him wash it and try some car care theories out on it before I apply them to my Stook--don't tell him). It's been useful on a few love bug remnants on my front bumper.

Try Meguiar's paint cleaner. I've removed things from a friends van that she thought would have to be repainted. You will need to re-wax the area after using the paint cleaner.

Very good stuff.

You could try the Simple Green Bug and Tar remover pads, about $1.99 from any auto parts place. They do good in taking all the crap off of my car without scratching

NJ, I've never heard of t-cut...

Today, I took it to the minor collision shop that does all of my ding repair, and they took some special rubbing compound to it, which took a little of it off. They are going to try again with a buffer later this week while it's there for some other work.

Sondra

Get a bigger gun - use gasoline. This will take anything off. Wash it down thoughly and reapply wax right away.

I tried a new 3M product (3M Scratch Remover) on some minor scratches. It was like a miracle! They came right out by gently rubbing some on for about 15 seconds. (It's a cream - just like their plastic polish/cleaner stuff.) I was also very brave and tried it on Rick's new aeroscreen (which had some minot but annoying scratches). It didn't say it was for plastic-like materials, but it took them right out, and gave the screen a new sparkle.
