Carnauba liquid wax-a liquid wax contains between 5 and 25% Carnauba by volume. These products are easy to apply because they are diluted with solvents and/or oils to provide spread ability, they offer moderate durability.

Carnauba paste wax-usually contains between 20 and 35% Carnauba by volume. They give a deeper shine and increased durability over its liquid counterpart.

What do you prefer? Also how do you fight against contamination in the jar when using paste? No matter how hard I try wax never is clean as a whistle after couple uses.

Kinda the reason why I prefer liquid.

when i use a paste i always scrape off the top little bit of it to minimize any contaimination. I also switch pads a lot.

I've found that if I use a liquid, I tend to go through the bottle quicker. I believe for two reasons.
1- applicator tend to soak up some of the liquid
2- tend to be more generous that I probably should with a liquid
For the last two years on my S I've only been using a paste and just find it more rewarding. I guess it's really a mental thing.
Exactly my experience too JS.

I am using NXT from meguiars and it seems like it takes a lot longer to dry when compared to paste. Glossy isn't all that great either, may be it is because I am polishing the car with my hands rather than using porter cable. NXT isn't that bad though, simply for its ease of use.

what other steps are you taking prior to nxt? how many coats of nxt are you applying? typically nxt should give you a very wet look easily. you are right in that it takes a while to settle, but it does not necessarily have to harden up like a paste would before you remove it (just give it the finger swipe test). also i have found subtle differences when applying it by hand versus a pc. from experience, two thin coats of nxt gives me the best durability and wettest look.

I use NXT liquid as a base and paste gold class on top, the NXT goes on very easy(almost too thin) and i think it last longer than just gold class alone.
