Default Waxing over Zaino, so its good to do?

I have been using zaino religiously for 6 years now and I have never heard of waxing over it. So I notice that it wax gives your car a better shine from what I see on here? True? So once I am done with Z2 then a coat of Z8 I should wax it? Can you interchange wax and zaino? I was always under the impression that zaino should not be mixed. Maybe that it just because they don't want you to use anything else. Once you wax though, you have to eventually strip it before another coat unlike zaino? please explain for me.

Thanks in advance!!!!

jon- you just gotta hang out here more often!
(i have a feeling that you are about to)
yes, you can "sandwich" carnubas and synthetics- boiler and i started doing this with a synthetic product called finish first- then i moved on to zaino on my car (i still use finish first on several other cars).
there are a couple of us who have been doing this since sal zaino told us that we couldnt!
the rules, as we have developed them (and your job is to break them just like we did):

1. put on as many layers of synthetic as you want... just make sure that each is allowed to cure
2. after synthetics are cured, carnuba over them
3. let the carnuba cure... you can then put more carnuba if you want but we have concluded that more carnuba does not do nearly as much as one layer over the synthetics
4. next time you detail the car you can either add carnuba or synthetic- doesnt matter... thus the term sandwiching.
5. the most important rule: we got here by disobeying... so we know that all of these rules are to be broken (but we like them)!

whatever you try, be sure to post up your pics and then be sure to pm me and ask for a wacko badge!!

Thanks wanabe for the quick and detailed response. I am actually very excited about combining the two. I am very curious as to how much better it will protect and look? But I have several more questions then I will be on my way.

1. So zaino will lock onto carnuba if you polish over it? Vice Versa?

2. Should the wax be applied like the zaino, front to back on the hood and trunk and top to bottom on the sides. Or circular?

3. I thought that wax had to be stripped before redoing it? Am I wrong on this?
So basically I can wax or zaino whenever I want without stripping one or the
other except when I clay once a year?

4. I use to use mothers a long time ago for wax. What have you found to give the best results that is readily available in stores?

5. Why does sal say no wax? What are your thoughts?

Thanks a lot wanabe, you have been much great help!!!!

Great!!! Was that a record response? Took you only less than 5 minutes. Thanks a lot! And one last thing. Waxing over zaino will not decrease the visual effects and shine of zaino will it? Paste or liquid wax? I hate residue from the wax.

Thanks in advance for the many questions to come!!

If you plan on putting carnuba on top of Zaino, don't bother with the Zaino. The oils in the wax ( this is where their gloss comes from ) will eventually breakdown the Zaino. Also, since the carnuba has a yellow tint to it that cannot be processed out, you end up muting the clarity achieved with Zaino. It is not physically possible for wax to have the durability that Sal and his mad chemist have achieved. Durability? Wax, a few weeks. Zaino, six months or more.

I've owned my Spa Yellow for almost 5 years now. Every spring I'd put 6 coats of Zaino on it then "maintain" by adding another coat of Zaino every month or so. Two years ago I tried topping off the Zaino with a coat of Meguires #26 wax. I was estatic with the results. It gave my paint much better warmth and depth. I never heard anything about carnuba breaking down Zaino. It certainly doesn't seem to on my car.
