What does wax actually do for a car?
Like others, I obsessively wax my S at least once every two months. I put it on and I take it off. But I'm not really sure about the specifics regarding what wax does for the paint. What am I doing for the paint when I wax my car?

For one you're protecting it from harmful sun rays that will fade out your paint, it basically protects your paint from the elements and helps it last a long time.

a very very very thin coat of wax, you can tell you have a good coat of the wax on when after it rains and the water beads up or when you wash your car.

I'll do more research and get back to you but I heard the test is if your car squeaks when you rub your finger across it (wet) the sealant / wax is gone.
