I can recommend using a horse hair brush to clean the dirt off with a fabric cleaner such as the Chemical Guys one. I used a micro fibre towel with the cleaner and didn't get great results.

The Chemical Guy link is for a product designed for a fabric top. The OEM S top is made to look like fabric but it is not; it is vinyl.

Top manufacturers recommend Ragg Topp (again 2 kinds for vinyl or fabric) for OEM tops like ours. I have been very pleased over the years how Ragg Topp has performed for me. I never get any streaks or run off as some with 303 have. I use 303 on other stuff but never on the top as RT has worked so well.

I would use 303 before I would use a Chemical guy product. The battle over 303 and Ragg Topp is a lot like deciding which oil brand is best.

Raggtop made by Hartz is one of the best products out there, you can get it in a cleaner and protectant kit, they are one of the largest producers of softtops and they make the right product to protect them.

303 is good, but it tends to wash off with water/rain.

Another consideration is the Cleaner and Protectant produced by Chemical Guys.

Has anyone tried the Surf City Garage Top End Convertible Top Cleaner and Protectant? I use a lot of their other car care products but haven't tried this stuff.

I have used some of their products; my wife really likes the smell of the leather rejuvenator but the Convertible top cleaner is generic. You need something that is made for a vinyl top not either cloth or vinyl.

Is it okay to wash it with normal car wash soap (Meguiar's Gold class) and then use 303 after the rinse and dry? That is what I have been doing, but am not sure if the soap is bad for the top.

I dont try to prevent the car wash soap (I use Meguiars or Griots) from getting on it, but I do not scrub it with the soap. I just rinse it very well, then I clean and protect. I use Raggtop on mine, same as the previous owner.

Okay. I've been scrubbing it with the Meguiar's soap. Guess I should stop that now. Thanks. Do you clean the with the Raggtopp every wash?

Side note: Kind of ridiculous that Raggtopp asks $30 for that nylon brush.
