Default Wheel Marks

I have some small black spots on wheels I want to remove from my wheels:

I am not sure what caused them it looks to me like rubber from tires hitting the rim.
I have tried rubbing with a cloth and detergent and they don't seem to want to move.

anyone got any ideas?

looks to me like we should be able to help...

first, our wheel cleaning thread will have tips and its at:

i like p21s wheel cleaner cause its pretty mild. that with a brush should get it. rinse, then spray on the p21s- let it sit a short time (i never let any product get dry on the wheels) then agitate the whole wheel and clean it. then come back and redo the spots that you have. if the brush isnt able to get it, then go back and redo it with a rag, but the brush is usually the best tool.

if you have a good all purpose cleaner, like the meguiars cleaner, that might also work- usually i dilute this stuff but on your wheels i would consider full strength. always test in a small area first. this would be my second choice.

p21s wheel cleaner should get it, and if not then we have more choices- but i would start there because it is the safest. let us know how it goes!!

(we like before an after pics too)

Are you an autocrosser? Or, did you buy those wheels from an autocrosser? Those look like cone marks. Those wheels are highly sought after by the AS guys, as they're the lightest AS legal wheel for an AP1. That's what made me think of cone marks.

Anyway, if I'm correct, clay should take that right off. I have to do this all the time.

Yeah those marks are unmistakable to me. I've got a set of polished aluminum CCWs as my autocross wheels, and keeping them nice is a tremendous amount of work.

Now, while the wheels are clean, apply some wheel wax to protect them from future spotting/brake dust. Future cleanings will be much easier too.
