Default Your thoughts on "touchless" carwashes...

I've put my car through a so called touchless carwash twice with no ill effects that I can detect.

If this cleaning process is harmful to our car, please tell me why so that I can avoid doing it any damage.

Thanks.

whataride- good question.
if it has any pressure spray that is harmful to your top seals (the owners manual even addresses this).
otherwise the main problems are swirls caused by the rags that they use to dry the car...
we have had posts of wheel damage if they use a track that drags the car.
by far the best way to wash is by your hands with your products and towels!

some thoughts are also here:

Touchless washes use high pressure spray. The high pressure water works its way past the window seals. You'll get your interior wet when it sprays the side windows.

Our manual advises against using car washes. With "touchless" car washes they use very high pressure water to spray the car. This is also known as sandblasting. It's harmful to any paint surface and will leave pits in the paint among other things. I think we all know how delicate the paint on the S is so I would leave the washing up to your hands rather than high pressure water.
