Zaino mistakes...
Well, we all know Zaino is a pretty complicated system. We also know that the labels on Zaino products don't contain all the tips, tricks, and hints that the website does. Smart people would print those directions out. Dumb people would try to remember them and get them wrong.
I am a dumb person.
I Dawn-washed my silver last night, claybarred it (by the way, my car was pretty much spotless, with a healthy coat of Mother's California Gold wax, and the claybar didn't really seem to do anything but destroy my hands -- it took off all two of my tiny bits of gunk -- if your car is truly clean, don't bother with it), washed it again, then put on the Z1 and covered it with Z2. By the time I had gone around the car with the Z2, the first part was dry. Now, I remembered reading the tip to use Z6 before -and after- Z2 application. So, stupid me, with the Z2 still dried on the surface, sprayed Z6 into the residue and smeared it around till it was dry. Finally I buffed all the stuff off.
Then I forgot to wait 6 (warm) / 24 (cold) hours to apply the next coat. So I went around the car again with the Z2 about ten minutes later, and let it dry overnight.
Then I reread the website, and realized my two mistakes! This morning I buffed off the "second" coat of Z2.
So how did it look? The paint was black, had the consistency of tar, and was peeling off down to the metal.
No, it was beautiful! I could literally see other cars halfway across the parking garage reflecting from the doors. Leave it to the Zaino Bros. to advertise a product as very anal about application technique, even though it works just fine when you're a retard like me.
So who else has screwed up their Zaino applications, only to find it was all ok?

Now, just imagine how good it will look when you do it right. BTW, I would certainly NOT use the Z6 between the Z1 and the first coat of Z2. However, I use the Z6 before and after each subsequent coat of Z2, and after washing. I think it makes a real difference.
Dallas,
Nope, I didn't use Z6 between Z1 and Z2. I did only two things wrong:
1) I applied Z6 after Z2, but I hadn't removed the Z2 residue yet. I don't think this really made any difference, good or bad, because I subsequently removed all the residue, and the Z6 with it. The layer of cured Z2 adhered to the paint wasn't affected in any way, just the residue.
2) I didn't wait 6 hours to apply the next coat of Z2. I think this only affects the total drying time. I figured that it was kinda like applying 1 1/2 coats. No biggie.
I've since applied three more coats, and everyone is right -- it does indeed look even better every time!
