I haven't use Japon, but I know I and a few other guys here have used Concours. Personally, I love the shine Concours gives. It's very deep and wet looking but costs much more than the Japon.

Mikeyc

I have read some of your other responses and beleive your an in the know detail guide. Based on your advice just ordered a PC 7424 from amazon free shipping and a special 10% discount if ordered by 6/26.
Now my next question? What type of pads do you recommend? I notice Sonus has a good selection but are they good pads? Somemore free advice please/

I posted in your other thread a recommendation for Edge 2000 pads. I've been hearing a lot of great things about them lately and they have a number of advantages over traditional velcro pads. Here's a few . . .

-double sided pads
-no backing plate to bump into your car
-self centering pads
-availability of custom pads (you can order say cutting foam on one side and polishing on the other) I equate these to the drill bits with a screw driver on one side and a drill bit on the other
-OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I lost count of the number of times I've heard great customer service stories about Aaron of Edgepads (Lake Country on the other hand screwed me royally)

I've used their Cleaner Wax before. My only complaint is that it didn't last that long.

I JUST put NXT on it this weekend. Initial impressions are nice, but doesn't "pop" like the natural waxes do.

Most cleaner waxes regardless of brand do not have much durability. Also, IMO the OTC Zymol polishes are not terribly good. I bought some when it first came out and was thoroughly unimpressed.

NXT also contains a good amount of cleaner but is not advertised as a cleaner wax. It's a synthetic so the shine it imparts is very different than that of a natural wax as you pointed out. NXT is also not known for good durability.

Drat. I like the one application feature of NXT, and am a little put off by how you have to "layer" Zaino.

Any suggestions? I just put 3 coats on over the weekend and would hate to see all the effort wasted in a few weeks.

nxt is also not a great layering product...

if you are looking for a simple synthetic, finish first is one that i have used for years where i need easy and durable. and a coat of p21s over it makes for a good combo. at one of the first so cal meets of our cars, several pics were taken of my car and posted up claiming that it was a well zainoed car-

actually, it was a well finish firsted car!!

As Wanabe hinted at Zaino is not the only long lasting sealant available. Some other brands of sealants that are durable and that are less complicated than the Zaino system are Wolfgang, Klass, Jeff's Werkstatt, and Menzerna FMJ.

Personally, I'm still not 100% convinced that "layering" actually accomplishes anything. At least when you're comparing putting 2-3 layers on versus something outrageous like 36 layers.

IMO Sal Zaino convincing people that they need to put 100 layers of Zaino on their car is a marketing gimmick and only does two things . . .

1. Wastes a lot of Zaino
2. Makes Sal a lot of money

I'm not bashing Sal at all BTW. I think he's a brilliant marketer.
