ttoung, if you're serious about the hackintosh, you could buy the comp and switch the motherboard out. 99% of the time a Hackintosh fails because of the motherboard, not the CPU or the graphics card, or the RAM. I'm assuming it's because you want to use Final cut?

well, i'm running an old G5 PPC, one of the dual processors machines that was auctioned off by EA back in the day, after they got the Xbox 360 dev hardware... these G5s were the Xbox 360 devkits.

so i like running a OS X tower, good for hosting drives, surfing the web, running aperture and final cut, imovie, etc... but now it's way to slow, so i want to upgrade it.

i don't want to spend more money replacing the board, so i might as well make sure it works first or just build a Hackintosh from the ground up.. but i will keep your suggestion in mind...
