There is a tsb or something for this, as it is a defect. I think you can just go to honda and get a new one.

The recall was issued for MY00, Mine is MY01.
It's really hard to deal with Honda, The corporate just keeps telling me my car is out of warranty.
May be I should try harder.

make offers for my 2002 ap1 parts! need to get rid of this stuff

oem cat 130k miles
8" wlaurent sub enclosure with alphasonic sub (fits left side of trunk)
front stock speakers
OEM air intake
OEM shift knob (a little scratched - previous owner drove with a ring on)
left side CV shaft (needs a new outer boot but good to go)
front rotors - good condition
oem front and rear brake pads (rear pads have a ton of life left)
ap1 center console - previous owner drilled a 1/4 inch hole for an alarm system light
