Default Potential consequences

I was advised that you guys maybe able or have more experience with this situation. so....

As some of you know, I have been really looking into going turbo. Done numerous hours of research on kits, ems, gauges, etc. Since I have never been FI in any of my cars, I have no real idea of the consequences besides what I think is logical.

With smog check aside, if one should get pulled over with a turbo kit on and the cop asks to pop the hood, what would most likely happen?
Impound the car?
Go to jail?
Both?

If you have experience or know please chime in. I guess this is the reason not to many of us in CA are turbo/supercharged.

If you live in a place where cops are trained to look out for modified cars, you'll more than likely get a ref ticket. Basically you'd have to take your car to the ref and have an EXTREMELY intense "smog check". As with any kind of ticket. If you can't pass you'll be forced to pay a heavy fine. (500 plus) Other than that. no jail time, no impouding, unless your caught street racing, etc.
