rear window failed
Guys - coming up n 300,000 miles my 2001 Monza experienced a distressing event. I just got back from a 50 mile bike ride, picked up lunch from Rubio's and lowering the roof there was a load crack . After ducking for cover and then looking over my shoulder it was clear that the rear window experienced a critical failure. It looked like the window had exploded.! I've no idea how or why except that I've driven it every day for 16 years, almost never with the roof up. So it's up and down daily. The roof is OEM but fitted by Jim's in San Diego back in 2007
So a couple of things:
ps I'm in San Diego but travel to Orange County (Irvine) every week so interested in recommendations in both areas
So a couple of things:
- Do you think this is claimable on insurance?
- What's the top to go for bearing in mind it's up and down every day several times?
- Should I be making any mods to the frame or the mechanism (over the years it developed several rips and tears) before fitting a new top?
- I'm thinking of buying a car cover to protect the next roof from sun damage, can anyone recommend a brand and where to get it?
- Is a hardtop prohibitively expensive?
