Reliability (Honest)
Hey all!
Well I resigned from my job about a month ago, i'm a .net software engineer (among all other IT stuff). Company was horrible, doing illegal things, and was going to cut my pay instead of a bonus lol. Though I have had interviews the last couple weeks, I'm not sure when the new job will come, especially being the worst time of year to be on the job market. I'm thinking of ways to get some extra money to hold me over. I have an extended warranty on my 2002 honda s2000 which I bought with 18k miles on it, now has 33k (1 year later). I'm considering selling off my extended warranty, since I haven't had any kind of mechanical issues whatsoever and honda has good reliability reputation (this is my first honda, before had audi, VW, and chevy). What do you think? I take great care of my cars, especially with routine maintenance. Would be a good way to get a thousand or so bucks in my pocket.
Thanks!
Ben

my 04 has 87K miles on it and i've only had a replace one diff mount and the clutch master cylinder. Other than that, regular maintenance was done myself (oil changes, air filter changes/cleaning, valve adjustment, brakes). I'd say you are more than OK without a warranty. Honda's are all very reliable--you take care of it and it will take care of you.
since you have a 2002, make sure you have the 4 hole oil jet banjo bolts and not the 2 hole. other than that, you should be good i think.

Just my opinion, but extended warranties are never worth it. (But never say never. And possible exception if it's the Honda CPO warranty that's truly bumper-bumper with no deductible factory warranty.) And afaik S2000's don't tend to have a lot of expensive issues until the mileage gets up a lot higher. You didn't mention how much you'd get if you sell it off, but if it's significant then taking the cash is probably a good gamble. Just my 2c. It's a gamble either way.
Good luck with the job!

sorry to hear your company went south... check and update your linkedin (if you have one) and also check indeed.com, that's where I have found many technical opportunities in the past. I am also in the engineering industry, unfortunately we don't hire too many software engineers. Good luck in the future!
