be careful getting the smog hook up especially if you drive to LA there was in the new import tuner there is an interesting blurb in the under the hood section. They are having mandatory roadside smog legality checks and automated IR camera that can measure your emissions and then they send you a ticket saying you have to "participate in a voluntary vehicle repair program". If you get snagged at one of the roadside checks and found to have illegal stuff or a gross polluter then they tow your car.

 

Wow, I've heard of this but didn't know it was this serious

 

Yeah. Cali is getting crazy. They say the purpose for it is to get rid of shady smog shops and to eliminate those who return their cars back to stock for the test and put illegal parts on afterwards.

 

yes Vhin, they look for wack cases like you...
