there's plenty to do it just depends on what your into...
if your taking your gf start by going to La Jolla cove and take her for stroll near the beach and you can walk up to prospect and visit one of the many shops they have. after you've built up an appetite with all the walking have lunch at http://www.jackslajolla.com/or.asp#lunch for some kobe beef sliders. after lunch take a drive to la jolla dr. and head out to pacfic beach and take a long walk at the boardwalk to work off all the food. its going to be hot so you want something to cool you off, so, go to mr. frosty's off mission blvd and garnet ave (1466 Garnet Ave) for some cheap but the best soft serve ice cream in san diego. afterwards if the suns still up which it stays up late this time of the year head out to balboa park and check out some of the old spanish style architecture and museums that are free certain days. when the sun comes down you are not that far away from the gaslamp district which is always fun to walk or just watch people going about their ways. for dinner i suggest http://www.redpearlkitchen.com/sandiego/ your g/f will love the ambiance and the food, if she's into asian fusion. reasonsably priced for two should have you leaving spending way under $50 w/o drinks and inc. gratuity.
hopefully it helps, if not you can always type in "what to do in san diego" or "day trip san diego" in google...

san diego clubs are lame, dont do that.
and how come when people talk about san diego, its always sight seeing at la jolla?
TJ? theres nothing you can do in TJ that you cant do in america, unless you're underage and love transexuals...and now, youre going to need a passport.
head over to coronado, the carlsbad strip, or cardiff by the sea.
hungry? try Roysrestaurant.com Japanese-Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine.
Honestly, theres not much to do in san diego, people love san diego because of the good weather all year round. everything else is 2 hours north in LA.
love drugs and music?
