Ive got a slashed top too.
Is paying the deductible the best option on replacing it?

Does it increase the insurance or is it considered not my fault?

What is the process of filing this claim? (Does insurance take a look at it? If they approve of it, can I take it to the dealer to get it replaced? Will I have to pay anything additional to the deductible?)

Depending on how much you get from the insurance I can probally do it so you don't have to pay a deductible

since you have a MY00, did you have the plastic window? If you know someone that can help you replace it, I say skip the insurance. The tops cost under $500 (with glass window) shipped unless you MUST have the defroster.

Installing does take a while but you don't have to worry about your insurance being affected. Of course it does matter what insurance company you have, but I'd say skip them all together.

just my .02

No, the car has an OEM 02+ Softtop glass window(glass says honda?) w/ defroster lines (which I dont need).

http://www.topsonline.com/index.php?CarmodelID=747000

EZ ON Brand Top with Window costs $509.47 + installation

Robbins Brand Top with Window costs $766.29 + installation

Deductible = $500ish?

What do you guys think I should do?

Also, since it has a OEM honda 02+ softtop glass window and previous owner gave me the old plastic softop + frame, is it safe to assume that I now have a 02+ frame & top?

Take it here and see what they say: http://www.jimsautoupholstery.com/

They patched my roof. They seem to know what they are doing. They do soft top work.

I heard a rumor the dealership down the street sends convertible top work to these guys.

Replacing it, claiming insurance, or patching it is all a balance of how large the slash was, what the condition of the soft top was, how much you can afford and how nice you want it to look. All you have said is that its slashed.

It cannot be patched up, it is slashed twice all the way across. It needs to be replaced. Im trying to figure out what the cheapest option is

your cheapest option is going with hv denim but imo just go with the stayfast it looks much nicer and will hold up longer

you still have the MY00 frame. there are mods done for the newer top to fit onto the older frame.

If you aren't handy or don't have friends that can help, and not concerned with your insurance rates going up, go through your insurance. If you are concerned about your insurance rates, get handy and DIY.

I've never heard of insurance rates going up for this because this is comprehensive coverage also deductible should be different as well.
