Mural - interesting, like hanging wall paper; makes sense.

I see Vito isn't always watching movies. Good for him. I'm hungry to get back to oil painting myself now that our house is back to normal.

Spent the day with two other couples who live in Grand Rapids, MI. We took in another "Art Prize". I have to say some of the stuff is $hit but some is Just Awesome (and I am not often impressed).

The city has been doing this for a number of years and pays out BIG money to the top winners, like six figures in several categories. Since it is spread over the 2nd largest city in the state one can not begin to see it all in one afternoon but we did see 8 of the top 20 on this list.

I can assure you that looking at these on the list on a pc does not even begin to give the works justice but, here's the list FWIW:

The better half has some of her work at "show"
One of the Worcester area restaurants rotates over material. Most of the folks in the group she's in are selling but she "doesn't do that"
These 3 pieces ( about 16" x 14") are what is currently hanging.
Unfortunately JPEG doesn't work really well on complex color palettes and render a slightly cartoonish feel to it.
This has a dramatically adverse impact on texture and depth.

Nice stuff! I spent the afternoon wandering around an open house at local artists studio. Barb would enjoy it. I saw some pretty neat stuff, painting, photography. I even saw a nude model and some rather disturbing paintings too. BUT, most studios had some free food, beverages, candy and cookies. A good. day. .

The studios are in an old mill in New Bedford. Very cool use of an old building.

Tell Barb nice job! I'm partial to the beach scene. Would love to be at a warm beach today.
