The Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the Mall is celebrating 50 years. I expect we will go down for some of the events this weekend and next. The theme is the circus - performances (including the Wallendas) and what goes on behind the scenes.

The visiting FL family’s stomach flu finally got to me. Rough past two days. Definitely no fishing trip up north for me this year. Good news is the four from FL are all feeling better and are going to join my son, who took my truck and boat got out town before being around all the sick people.

Sorry to hear "it" got you, Dave. Glad the younger folks will be able to salvage some time together.

About six weeks before my mother passed, she got some kind of digestive upset...we suspect Noro Virus as it spread like wildfire among those of us who were in contact with her. (kind of similar to your situation). One by one we got it. First a brother in law, then a sister, then me, then a sister who came to visit. After we had all recovered, Mom commented that she was glad she hadn't made any of the ladies in her afternoon social group ill. My brother in law reminded her that she passed those germs on to family members instead. That virus hit fast. I didn't feel well for a week. Sister from SC who was visiting spent most of her time in a hotel room and lost 6 pounds over the weekend.

May you have a healthy 4th, Dave.

Two nights lodging in Frisco Colorado that includes cycling on the designated bike paths around Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Frisco and Vail Pass areas in Colorado. Plan on viewing the fireworks over Dillon Reservoir on the forth.

Don't mean to hog the thread but maybe the fortunes on this vacation for the FL family are turning. Daughter got pulled over doing 72 in 55 and the cop was in front of her! She did get her dad's need for speed.

I am amaze "her worst vacation ever story" worked and she didn't get a ticket.

I'm so glad she didn't get a ticket.....Did your son in law have his kidney stone available for show and tell?

We don't have specific plans this weekend, except for a party on the 4th. I'm sure there will be top down time, Y time, camera time, puttering time. I'm just happy I'll be off for five days!

Launching (finally) the "new-to-me" boat tomorrow. I'm hoping for a few good days on the water this weekend getting used to the new rig.
