Bands from Irma came through here yesterday -- all day long. Wind, wind, wind for hours and hours and hours along with rain showers. My yard is a big fat mess with small branches, twigs, a few limbs and leaves. My house was pelleted by bits of leaf debris and needs to be hosed off. I'll be out today cleaning what I can and the lawn guy will be here when he can get here to take away the larger stuff and do a more thorough job. I still feel I was fortunate to miss the big Irma bullet.

My friend with the mother's house in Venice FL says it came through the storm OK.

OMG! As OhioRacer would say, "praise Allah". My lawn maintenance crew is here already! OMG, I was thinking I'd have to drag those limbs and branches out by myself. Whew! I am so relieved. Just toured the lawn and it is worse than I thought. So much debris!!!!

I'm wondering where the discrepancy is. NOAA wind and water levels show nothing much. According to them, wind in Naples peaked about 60 knots, water at 7.5 feet.

Naples Wind: NDBC - 5-day plot - Wind Speed (at 10 meters) at NPSF1

Naples Water Levels: https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/wa...rval=6&action=

I was following this because my aunt & uncle have a place on the water in North Naples. They are safely at their place in Asheville, and their house is at least 12 ft (maybe more) above high tide, so their place should be OK, if these wind and water plots are accurate.

But I find it hard to believe that they would locate official measuring stations in a place where the measurements are not accurate.... Hmmm......

Here is his post: "The store is in flood zone x. That means it's really low. Contrary to what the news says the flooding occurred East of the City of Naples. We lost trees and branches. The inlands where the glades drain through took the brunt of the flooding. Most of it was fresh water not salt. That won't kill the plants. We've seen far worse damage in Naples from other hurricanes. The press likes to blow it up."

Good news from Melbourne. Sis has power back - still boiling water. So now she can dry all those towels they had to use to keep water from flooding their front hallway (came under the door). I read that east coast power restoration could be a week or less. West coast much longer.

My sister got news that her house appears OK. There are a few shingles gone but from the outside everything look good. She is headed back home soon.

Glad to hear family and friends have been spared any real damage/issue. My SC sister will probably return home from NC tomorrow. The other one said her area was find (not too far from Darlene) but the beaches did take a beating. My former employer has a condo in Marco Island, he made out OK. I guess there may be a lesson about buying/living in a mobile home in FL. Those people seem to have suffered the most!

Got the news that my Aunt is fine. No power and no phone, but a friend of the family checked in on her and sent a picture of her smiling and happy! Her condo appeared dry and undamaged.
