S2000 an "Exotic"?
i would say an exotic would have to be a car the average man cannot afford...plus i think the car would have to be a limited production vehicle...both of those factors would lead a car to be exotic.

Well, the average American household (according to the U.S. census) ONLY earns approximately $28K per year. . . By that standard, the S (along with a lot of cars) is definitely out of the price range of your average person. . .
Remember, most people who own cars priced over $25K make more than twice that amount. Whereas that number isn't high for most us (members of this board), for your average person $50K/year is a mint. . .
Thus, I hold that "exotic" refers more to exclusivity & styling than price or even performance. . .

I'm torn here.
I tend to agree with 2X6 though. To me an exotic is a highly visceral, tempremental, exclusive and desirable purpose built car.
Our S2K's meet some but not all those requirements.
You all know the stat's but the highly focused nature of our cars makes me think exotic. The technology in the engine, tranny, in-wheel 4 wheel double wishbone suspension, and the high x-bone chassis all at least sound exotic. Nobody that's driven one of these can argue with it's visceral nature. The largely hand built nature of the cars might be the reason behind their somewhat tempremental nature. Before I get flamed for that, my point is that yes, these little guys are very reliable. However, they aren't anywhere near as reliable as an accord or civic. such is the nature of the beast, you say. well, i agree and that's why i say semi-exotic.
exclusive... maybe not. but here in sunny s. cal. i see far more boxsters than i do s2k's (except of course last sat. at the irvine meet
)
no, the average american can't afford one. but they're a hell of a lot more affordable than the Boxster S (the car's closest competitor IMO).
i guess i've talked myself into it. semi-exotic.
