they chop- off the tentacles into small pieces but it still moves around for a minitue or two,
and that's when they eat it.
the suctions sometimes get stuck on the ceiling of your mouth and that's when it gets nasty.
now THAT, i'm too scared to eat.

I've not seen that ...... but I have had fish here (not sure the type of fish) where the flesh was cut off the fish while it was still alive and the head, tail etc. that is left is placed as the centre piece of the dish and you can see that it is still twitching while you are eating the flesh

I have also had prawns in a hot pot, where the prawns are skewered but still alive when you drop them into the boiling water
i went to a banquet today where they had fresh fish. i mean, really really fresh fish.. like moving fish. they brought out a plain old wooden cutting board onto the table, slabbed some sea salt onto it, then the sushi chef grabbed into his bag of tricks and pulled out a live (yes, i said LIVE) fluke. he took out a nail and with the butt of his knife drove the nail into the fluke's eye. he then proceeded to remove the scales, then cut off the choice cuts of the fish and served it. he then took the edible remains of the fish and put it into a hot pot (chigae) and boiled it up with some tofu and vegetables. he then repeated the process with sea bass and fresh eel.
sound prehistoric to you? probably.. let me tell you.. it was delicious!

There's nothing quite like Uni (aka sea urchin). It's a taste and texture that kinda grows on you.
I used to hate it, but now I love eating that wonderful uni goodness that tastes IMO like fishy butter.
Sounds bad, tastes good!

My fave is this "sushi sampler" platter at the local sushi joint (*Sumo Sushi*). It has tuna, salmon, squid, prawns, just about the whole menu of sushi for $30 (Canadian). You get about 16 pieces, a good dollop of wasabi and a soy dish. Yummiest stuff ever
Also, I love to get some dried seaweed from the oriental section of the supermarket and chew on that while studying... good, salty, and honestly taste nice ^_^

i'm down with the sushi..
then again, every time i go to visit my relatives in Japan, I eat a ton (and pay a fortune for it).
completely ruins my ability to eat sushi in the US. (well, at least in Ohio)
