Spicy tuna hand rolls are where it's at, and I'm getting pretty damn hungry for them now...
Damn this thread...
I think you have a seaweed hangup man. Seaweed is an ingredient in lots of things and you just don't know it. You probably eat some everyday in some various form.
Try eating some spam musubi and see if that triggers your seaweed reflex. Spam musubi is the po' Hawaiian version of sushi.
No raw products in it.

I love SUSHI. I used to be non adventurous and did not understand how anyone could eat raw fish. THen I tried it and not I"m in love! I get cravings for it. as you get more and more into sushi you'll try more interesting and wierd sushi and will love it all! I am a Sushi nut!
ok, I have to say this:
it does NOT take courage to eat sushi! for crying out loud, get out of your shell people! if an entire country practically lives on the stuff, and hundreds of millions of people around the world devour it... it can't be that bad. in fact, it's probably pretty darned good. get in there and eat it like it's not a big deal, because... it's not a big deal.
EDIT: ... well, except for the mackerel... and the sea urchin. those aren't a big deal, but they're probably not gonna be to your taste right off the bat. some dishes are more to people's liking than others, but fearing sushi across the board? having reticence about an entire cuisine? c'mon...

Key words here: If you haven't eaten sushi before, don't go it alone. Go with someone who has some experience and who can help you order what is to your liking.
If the thought of eating raw fish is too much, there are plenty of sushi and rolls that are fully cooked and are very tasty. Get comfortable with these first, then try some "sure thing" raw varieties that people like: hamachi (yellowtail) and maguro (tuna). Once you realize the raw stuff won't kill you (and is rather great-tasting) there's no stopping you.
