Regulator rebuild notes tips and tricks.
DIY Guys/Soviet already has a really good video on the subject. Consider this an addendum, so that you can save yourself any "DOH!" moments.
The shorter sheath goes on bottom, taller sheath on top. If you have an extra set of hands it really helps. Instead of trying to wrap the cable around the spool as the finishing touch, if you compress both springs and use your brain, you'll notice the guide has a big open slot on top. Wrap the bottom spool 3 turns, then 1 turn on top, then compress the spring on the lower guide by shoving the sheath into the guide, then compress the top spring, and pull it over the guide. You can do this because this part of the guide is open, unlike the lower guide. I wasted too much time trying to compress both springs and wrap the cable around the spool. Doing it my way I did it in 10 minutes, or maybe I'm getting better at it, which leads to my next point. DO NOT BUY THE $100 kit on E-Bay, it's a bad kit it doesn't fit right, the cheaper kit actually fits better, like OEM.
Finally, on re-assembly make sure the motor is pointing to the top of the regulator, otherwise you'll have to start over. You can pre-bend the tabs back to position, then the cover just snaps back on, I threw on a pair of zip ties cause I'm tacky.
Oh, and wear gloves, the door is sharp, it'll cut you, and you won't even realize it.

It took me way too long to realize you're talking about the WINDOW regulator. Not say, the voltage regulator in Alternator or something

Me neither. But there is your thread title, sounding like voltage regulator.

Also just learned how many levels of adjustment are possible, the window, the trim on the door the regulator can all be tilted and adjusted to set the glass properly against the weatherstripping.
