Default 3D Printed Oil Cap Tool

I whipped up this oil cap tool in CAD software and 3D printed it. It works great and the file is available at Printables: https://www.printables.com/model/171...l-15610-pcx-a0

If you have a 3D printer, give it a shot! I don't have anything to compare it to but it works great for the OEM oil cap.

Who did you have cast the tool for you?

Thanks!

It's not cast, I 3D printed it out of PETG plastic. Since it doesn't need much torque at all, plastic does just fine.

Pardon my ignorance, but what machine did you use to print the plans into a real tool? From a block of plastic to the final object.

Thanks!

Nice find. 200mm (8") handle should provide plenty of torque. Nearly a 4 hour print for me.

For those without access to a 3D printer a new $17 cap or new $6 gasket (15613-PC6-000) usually solves the problem as the original gasket fossilizes and requires extra tightening to compress it making it hard to remove. That gasket doesn't appear to be a specific S2000 part so try your favorite Honda or Acura parts desk.

Hobby Lobby PLA printed and works perfectly. Only difficulty was the four (4) hour print time which may rule out the printer at your local library especially if they have a high hourly machine fee. 140g of filament (14% of a 1kg $15 spool) so material cost is about 2 bucks. Color makes no difference printing this kind of stuff so I just used what was on the machine from the last print which happened to be black.

Of these machines, which would you recommend? Or would you recommend another? What is the bench footprint space of a typical unit?

Danke!
