Ok all joking aside I finally figured out how to get the "approved" friends to show up....

I essentially have to go to their profile to add them after I have approved them. May I request that when a request is approved, that the requestor is automatically added to the requestee's friends list?

I thought that if I add someone, it will put them on both our lists? I have never been requested of a friend add either, it just notifies me of it.

 

Click your username to the top right of the page and select "My Settings" from the drop down menu. Then select the "Profile" tab. In the "Change Profile Information" you will see the settings for "Friends" > "Friend Approval". Select "Disabled-Allow addition without approving", and you are set.

 

I found a patch to correct this problem, tested it on my development system and applied it to the production site. It does what you expect and ask for:

When you approve a friend request you are added to each others friend lists just as you would expect.
