Can't see what you can do! Try resetting your edit options to defaults and re-enter your preferences

I've been having a play around myself, I was beginning to feel a bit left out without one. I cam up with some real snazzy ones but unfortuantely they always blew the 5K limit so I'll have to make do with this one.

Probably teaching grandmother - sorry!
Do you use this?
http://www.optiview.com/
Reduces byte consumption of jpg's & gifs until you get the size/quality balance you need.
Will deal with images off your local disk or whatever server you have them on.
Found it v useful.
No - I don't have shares!
Memory says you can do a few for free.

Mikerich:

Thanks for the heads up on Optview, I'll have a play with it one of the days. Most of the image manipulation/photo packages offer compression and optimisation of gifs. There's no real probs meeting the avatar criteria with still images, it's the animated ones that are a sod. You end up removing frames and reducing the number of colours /size of image till there just isn't the quality left to be usable. What we need is a size limit of about 5 meg for avatars!

I've got Photoshop, Corel 8 and Paintshop Pro.I hardly use Photoshop. Most of the stuff I do is photo restoration. Without a doubt Paintshop Pro is the best value out there at the moment. In the retouching tools it has a pushtool which basically works by picking up the colour/density from whichever pixel area you place it on and you just push the image around with it . Coupled with a grahics tablet and pen it is simply a superb retouching tool, particularly where there are no underlying textures which have to be tediously cloned Both of the other packages have similar 'smeary' tools but none of them behave as well as this one. With regard to animations; Paintshop Pro comes with Animation Shop which allows you to create, edit and save .gif and other animation formats. It's very easy to use. There are usually loads of trial versions of it knocking about on freebie C.D.'s with computer mags.I think it's just under
