Being a Unix person and totally anti windoze, I use Linux for everything and I created this with The GIMP which is fantastic (GNU Image Manipulation Package) and totally free. Allows you to create various different animations however as Tonky said as soon as you start using the animated gifs the size goes barmy, I had this avatar on a revolving sphere however the size went up to 80K.

Can you imagine the cacophony from a page with 20 posts and all the 'musical avatars' playing at once.

Might be worth noting that the current Computer Shopper has a free copy of Debabelizer LE stuck on the front which is generally the king at optimizing.

Have to agree that the Animation studio with Paint shop Pro works well, when time is short but will have to get some time to use my

Well yes the blackdown port is a bit flakey but why use java at all? For me Python is a superior general language and I'll take php over javascript any day (note this site uses php to good effect), however it will never take off as its not backed by a major player.

Saying that I'm sure Evil Bill G will find some way to kill of Java before long and then we'll have VB75++ or some other piece of shite thats full of bugs or manages to crash their flakey operating systems.

As you can see a subject close to my heart so I'll stop the ranting now as this is getting off topic.
