Yes, you need to be a member to have a custom avatar

Then how do you explain PJK3 in this thread?

And why do guests even have the option of a "signature"? Let them pay for that privilege.

custom avatars are not automatically removed when membership lapses freq, so I presume PJK3's is left over.

Hopefully in the future the custom avatars will go away when membership expires, just one more reason to $$ up.

Hopefully, in the future, cthree will get his act together and get the "packets" out.

interesting....

mine is left over from way way way back when... when guest/owners were able to upload an avatar.
as i recall, i first uploaded it a couple days after i bought my S. i have never been a member, at first due to a mistake on my part, but soon after for other reasons.

and for quite a while, guests didn't have sigs either, priviledge or not. they are back for now, and it is an appreciated perk.

i saw mention of this new restriction in someone else's sig line. little did i know - i was the example being mentioned. thanks Freq. at least i know who to blame when mine vanishes...

(edit: didn't mean to imply malice towards Freq. edited to adjust and add 'joke' smilies. sorry.)
