They count on the gullible nature of people and their stupidity. Unfortunately they well probably do a lot of damage.

If you open an attachment of any sort from anyone that you aren't expecting you get what you deserve.

C3 give the peeps a little slack! Not everyone is totally computer savvy. Also, the fact that by default Microsoft insists on having a preview pane open and turned on in Outlook mucks things up on the unsuspecting!
