The forum is restricted due to it's nature. As a car forum many of our users browse the site from work. This site has been blocked by corporate firewalls in the past because of pornographic material in the off topic forum. Obviously we don't want our site blocked by corporate firewalls for being a porn site. By limiting mature content to a restricted part of the site that only members can access we minimize and/or eliminate this possibility. This policy will not be changing. I'm sorry if you're unhappy about this.

 

I thought that the down time was for upgrades and not just to make the site less user friendly to non paying members. For what it's worth, I think that if you are a registered owner, than you are a member and should be entitled to fully access all the functions of the site(avatars,signatures,forums, etc..). If you want discounts on merchandise than become a paying member.
