Custom Avatars...
The site says you need 25 posts to use a custom avatar. Well, this makes my 30th post and I can't anywhere find the place to upload my custom avatar. I can use one of 946 preloaded ones, but not custom. What am I doing wrong???

Scroll down to the very bottom. I'm not an owner but I'm registered, does that not make me a member?

No, a member is someone who paid $20 (or Gold $50) for membership to the site.

oh I want an S2000 but I'm waiting to see if I get this promotion at work on if I can afford one. As of right now, I could but it'd strap me for cash every paycheck. We'll see come July range. As for being a member, I don't see a benefit of paying to view a board I can already view right now. The extra benefits don't warrant me spending the $20. I've helped run 3 different websites now and modded 2 others. I know what it takes to keep a forum/site going. Oh well, I enjoy the board and I think I'll just continue on as I am now until I see something worth spending money on.

heh you know what it takes to keep one with over 30,000 users and literally millions of posts, plus thousands of posts per day, with dedicated connection to the internet, running on a number of dedicated servers?

The largest site I ran was up to 12k members with just over 1000 posts per day (until the server crashed and lost everything) and we only were spending $15/month. hehe It's cool, I'm not hating.
