Default HELP! New member can't post!

This post is on behalf of "Jules2000" who has been having problems accessing parts of the site. She has called me this morning to ask if anyone knows why she can't post anything (she's logged on, paid her dues, entered her VIN, etc...) but she can't post anything (it says "unable to post due to one of the following....not logged on.....etc....", yet the site is showing her as logged on.)

Can one of you tech-heads help her out? She obviously won't be able to reply until she's sorted this out.

I've also sent a PM to cthree & PWE, (now that he has reached the higher sanctum).

Julia,

Check your PM - reply if you can - we'll see if that works at least.

Ha! I'm back online.

After the longest 30 min's of my life (repeated requests for login info / multiple re-boots etc.) my login suddenly 'stuck'.

Strange.

I still have the weirdest problems posting which I've discovered a quite a complicated work around for. If I use a proxy server for my connection I can post but not browse!! WTF??

Julia could try deleting her cookies in IE as it could be a corrupted cookie. She then gets a fresh cookie when she next logs in.

can't have corrupted cookies, now, can we?

Julia is using IE4. Any probs with that?

I've noticed that Jules2000 is even listed in the online user listing. As I'll be out for the rest of the day (got to take the car......er....somewhere....) if anyone has any definitive solution, please email her through her profile stats.

Thanks for the help so far.

That could be the problem. She's well overdue to upgrade. She can download IE version 6 off the web for nowt. 5 is better but can still cause problems.

Julia and I have been in email contact and she says she has upgraded to IE6 with no effect. I've asked Erik (cthree) to look into it

JFTR, as yet I have no idea what a Moderator can do. (All I wanted was to be able to do some stuff in connection with SuperMeet threads and now I find I have a Moderator's job to do as well!)

The burdens of the righteous man are legion, Pete

(it's a quote from somewhere or other, but I'll be buggered if I can remember where!)
