Firefox or Chrome with Ad Block. However, of late, even with Ad Block and Firefox, the ads started up again. This is new since the "maintenance" of last week. Today, however, no ads. Weird.
make sure you uncheck the option to allow non intrusive advertising
Don't even know where/what that is, but I prefer NO Ads and No banners. This has all changed, since the maintenance and change of ownership. PIA!!!

on firefox: click tools > adblock plus > filter preferences. look on the bottom left of the window that opens and uncheck the box for "allow some non-intrusive advertising"

it may also depend on your filter subscriptions as some may be better than others. if you look in that window you will see your subscriptions listed. i have 2 (easylist english, and fanboy-adblock-main alpha) and i have zero ads/popups/highlighted text

Do you use AdBlock? If so see the post above. I used FF and Adblock and was still getting the banners/pop ups that I wasn't getting previously. The above suggestions took care of that issue.

Again, all these changes, slow site, pop up ads, difficulty loading are all since the "maintenance" of a month or so ago.
