mas - I see your point - to a degree. I would support a limited size sig - no pics for guests. If people are THAT tied up in their online identity then they should fork over the twenty bucks. That wouldn't use up too much bandwidth and keep the speed up and annoyance factor to a minimum.

To your point about MacGyver... you undoubtedly saw one of his posts and thought... "hmmm.... that's pretty cool!" I doubt you first learned of some of his inventions simply by clicking on his sig. It would be nice to be able to click to his site from a link in his sig.

As far as the great majority of sigs... How many times do you want to see a vanity list of which intake, gauges,neon under lights, mats and stickers and wing that someone has slapped on their car?

If I had a sig that posted all my mods... it would be pretty damn long. I'm just not vain enough to list it all. I usually post my mods - I figure if someone is interested they'll read the post. If not - they won't.

I think that your situation is rather unique. You bring something to the party. This place is better with you around. The same cannot be said for many other guests, however.

lig, that was just one example. The first time I actually visited Mac's pag it was mentioned by another owner as a reference point for what I was looking for. You can find many posts on s2ki.com that mention Mac's page in his sig including Mac's own posts like "check out my link for the anwer to your question", e.g.

I can find you many posts on s2ki.com in which people are refereing to their sigs or the links in their sigs as a part of their reply to someone's question/problem. Now, imagine a new "gold member" who just joined by paying $50 and who is searching for some informationg. He finally finds what he's looking for but guess what? The informations is now worthless cause it talks about "check out my sig" and there's no sig to be found.

(Just in case the emoticons "privilege" is taken away from us "freeloaders" later, I'm saying that I agree with lig on this)

If this level of posts applies to guests, I imagine it applies to members as well? It seemed very unfair to single out Greeny.

To 3ngin33r1: "Required" or not, might it not calm a few people down? I don't think it's the worst idea on this thread so far. As a "community" which we pay into, is it too unreasonable to raise the question? I hope not. If the site is struggling financially it should be helped by all (and if it is a site designed for profit, then I would be interested to know).

I am certainly not feeling irate - just observations. ... tinged with a bit of sadness over the whole affair .

Poorly managed situation from the start.
