There are several issues that may or may not have been addressed here, since there 11 pages now, I guess I'll chime in and post my thoughts without reading all 11 pages:

1) for ALL this is an instant speed boost on loading pages! With only about 1000 members currently there are not too many of the 20,000+ posters that can have a signature with graphics.

2) $20 puts you into the 1000+ and helps create a faster S2ki.com. To me it is worth $20/year to enjoy this site with fewer down times. Signatures and avatars are perks to those that SUPPORT this site financially.

3) It helps prevent enthusiasts from cluttering up a thread with all of the cars they have had, ever wanted, sold, thought they should buy or were owned by their cousin's best friend's mother's sister... don't mention all of the mods those cars have. Once again for $20 you can put that stuff back into your posts.

4) It cuts down on the moderators having to spend time private messaging someone for having inappropriate material in a signature.

5) Even if guests are the majority of users, about 100 actually care about the signatures from gleaning through this post. That's less than 1/2%. Even if you quadruple that number you are only at 2%... I don't think thousands of users are going to stop posting on S2ki.com because they can't have a special avatar or signature without being a member. All those people are doing are sucking up the limited resources this site has to offer without direct financial contribution.

6) Unless site sponsors see less money because of this policy, which I doubt, or the site loses members, I doubt, this is the way it will be in the future. Why would Cthree make a change if it is not impacting the financial well being of the site, especially since bandwidth costs will potentially go down (at least a fraction) because of this change in policy.

I support this site and I pushed for and support this policy. It makes sense to those that pay in the long run. If I am going to pay I want some perks and I want the site to be faster.

If twenty more people pay for a membership that's at least $400 more/year to keep this site moving quickly, pay for upgrads and keep it more enjoyable for us all.
