It seems member email has been down the better part of the day. You guys are probably doing some maintenance, but just wanted to know when it could be accessed again.

Thanks.

So I'm not the only one having trouble, right? Just making sure since I couldn't access mail all day and no one else asked about it. Thought it was just me.

The mail server has disappeared, literally! Due to some miscommunication the mail server was removed from the datacenter under the assumption it wasn't used anymore. After flipping out and making a scene it's on its way back to the datacenter and will be back up and functioning tonight before I go to bed.

Sorry, I have no idea what that was all about but it's being rectified. Even I didn't know it was broken until someone pointed out that is wasn't working and went to go fix it only to discover it wasn't there.

I'm glad you're on top of it! I just realized that I haven't received any email notifications (for both PMs and topic/forum subscriptions) within the past several hours. Hopefully when this mail server reappears, email notifications will be restored.

Yes, everything will be restored. It's in progress now and should be back up and running in about an hour.

Thanks for following this through. You should raise hell with them and break some kneecaps.

When the server was put back in the rack it wouldn't boot. The data is intact but the OS doesn't boot. I'm having to rebuild the machine which will take a few more hours

Sorry for the trouble. It was totally unexpected. I worked to get the server to come up till 6AM but had to crash for a bit. I'm installing a new system and will be copying the configuration and data from the old server as soon as the OS and application software has finished installing.

I ask a little more patience and I'll have it running again soon.

Np, understandably these things can happen. Just thankful that all of the data is intact, otherwise would have been like lol. Question - what has been happening to emails that have been sent to us? Are they queued up ready to be accessed when the server comes online? Or have all of them been bounced back? Thanks.
